1USV across the Nation
1. TEXAS
Texas is the home of the Commanding General, 1USV. The 1USV has a Horse Cavalry Rough Rider (HCRR) Detachment near Fort Hood, the home of the US Army’s Ceremonial Horse Cavalry. This unit practices and qualifies in order to carry out publicity and emergency services missions. Participating in civic events brings favorable attention to the missions of the 1USV. This detachment is able to export training for certifying Federal Horse Mounted Search and Rescue (SAR) Teams. Training of a Memorial Honors Detail (MHD) to provide Military Funeral Honors is, also, underway.
2. Florida
The Pensacola detail has formed to take on a mission to qualify as a special boat search and rescue/reconnaissance (SARR) squadron assisting local law enforcement and Coast Guard agencies.
3. California
Ventura, CA, is home of the 1st Memorial Honors Detail (1MHD) which has qualified as Memorial Honor Guards through a rigorous training and certification program. This detail has honored over 260 veterans since forming in 2004.
4. Nevada
Nevada is the home of our Staff Judge Advocate and our national recruiting officer.
Memorial Honors & Horse Cavalry Rough Riders Command
1. Memorial Honors Details:
The 1USV Memorial Honors Details (MHD) all receive individual formal training, testing and certification to US National Cemetery and FM 3-21.5 standards and requirements before they are authorized to perform the noble and dignified military memorial honors for a US military veteran’s grave site or chapel service. The 1USV MHDs are certified to provide uniformed military memorial honors at US National Cemeteries. The 1USV has uniformed representation of US military veterans from each branch of service. These veterans wear the uniform of their branch of service, or may elect to wear the distinctive 1USV uniform. All non-prior US military service 1USV personnel are authorized to wear only the distinctive 1 USV uniform.
Mission Statement: Conduct formal uniformed US military memorial honors for US military veterans at chapel, gravesite and military honors memorial “Roll Call” ceremonies.
Specified tasks: 1USV MHDs conduct formal training, testing and certification as prescribed by US National Cemetery.FM 3-21-5, US military branches of service and applicable US Code to ensure only certified personnel are conducting the military memorial honors at US military veteran grave site and chapel services. 1USV MHDs, to the best of their endeavors, respond to calls to provide formal uniformed full military memorial honors for any honorably served US military veteran. 1USV MHDs conduct appropriate liaisons to ensure public awareness of the 1USV MHDs and the 1USV mission. Provide uniformed Color guards as requested.
Implied tasks: MHD Officers demonstrate professional leadership skills, ensure proper 1USV chain of command protocols are complied with and 1USV policies are disseminated and understood. NCOs ensure proper 1USV chain of command and protocols are complied with, personnel maintain proper military bearing, appearance and conduct. Ensure that 1USV MHD training is to US National Cemetery, FM 3-21.5, US military branch of service standards and US Code requirements before any personnel are certified as MHD members. Conduct public educational lectures of 1USV MHD mission. Conduct formal public recruiting and public information presentations and endeavors where appropriate. Project only professional military standards presentation whenever in uniform, identified as or representing the 1 USV.
Commander’s Intent: Ensure that the honor and dignity of formal professional uniformed memorial honors details are rendered to each honorably served US Military veteran of this Nation, and is provided by professional uniformed MHDs to US National Cemetery, US military branch of service standards and requirements.
Commander’s Guidance: 1USV Officers and NCOs ensure consistent professional conduct, appearance and proper US military protocols and chain of command are complied with by all 1USV personnel. Ensure that all 1USV personnel learn and remain familiar with the 1USV lineage, 1USV insignia meaning and 1USV MHD mission. Ensure that all 1USV personnel comply with, support and conduct themselves in accordance with the prescribed 1USV chain of command and protocols.
2. Horse Cavalry Rough Riders Command
To promote public awareness of the 1USV historical lineage and our mission statements, the 1USV Horse Calvary Rough Riders Command (HCRR) conducts uniformed cavalry presentations in public patriotic theme community events and government events. The HCRR introduces and presents a public service educational awareness of 1USV Command, missions, presents to the public a trained, uniformed professional presence of the horse-mounted cavalry. The HCRR is the public visibility and public relations arm of the 1USV. It is the tempered cavalry mission; the 1USV HCRR is the shadow of the past and the keepers of the legend. The HCRR establishes and maintains community, military and government agency liaisons to provide a certified mounted search and rescue planning and operations resource.
Mission Statement: Conduct professional 1USV horse cavalry presence to successfully affect a favorable awareness of the 1USV Command, missions and reconnect the value of the equine presence hi today’s world.
Specified tasks: 1USV HCRR conduct professional standards equine care and training. Establish US military, community and government agency liaisons to establish and maintain awareness and capabilities of the 1USV full mission capabilities. Maintain only those appropriate US military and public safety liaisons to ensure continued awareness of the 1USV state of emergency (SOE) mission capabilities. Perform as the designated command and control Headquarters during an SOE for all 1USV SOE personnel and resources. Provide to US military equine Units and selected civilian federal, state and “local” public safety equine units, mounted search and rescue planning and operations training and certification under the authority awarded by the Secretary of the Army.
Implied tasks: When requested and HCRR chain of command approved, provide opportune or requested support to civil authorities (MSCA), patriotic theme community events, equine groups and US military horse cavalry Units. Conduct formal military standards professional training and certification for 1USV Horse Mounted Search and Rescue (SAR) Planning and Operations. Conduct educational lectures of lUSV’s missions. Conducts recruiting where appropriate. Participate in appropriate patriotic theme public and community events. Provide mounted color guard ceremonies for appropriate patriotic theme and political events. Project professional military personal conduct and traditional cavalry standards equine presentations whenever in public view, in uniform, or when identified as or when representing the 1USV.
Commander’s Intent: Ensure that the dignity and value of the equine presence in today’s world remains an essential element in today’s world. Ensure the continued lineage of the Rough Riders horse cavalry. Provide an increasing public and government awareness of the 1USV professionalism and mission capabilities being brought to bear for the US military veteran and fellow citizens of this great Nation in their time of need.
Commander’s Guidance: 1USV Officers and NCOs ensure consistent professional conduct, appearance and proper US military protocols and chain of command are complied with. Ensure appropriate equine care and project the Rough Rider professional and capable image.
